Harvest season is here again! After a few weeks finishing up cutting in Kiowa, Kansas, we packed up and headed northwest to Scott City, Kansas. Right now we're just waiting on some green wheat but hope to take a sample in the next few days. The temperatures have been in the 90s here, and hopefully the warmer weather will get things moving in the right direction!

It's hard to believe the summer has gone by! We had a busy and successful season so far, and the fall is going to be just as busy! We're now temporarily back in Gettysburg, SD finishing up the soybeans. Harvest is also going on at home in Hallock with soybeans also being harvested.

The 2010 harvest season is in full swing! We're currently in Altus, Oklahoma. The hot temperatures have helped ripen the wheat and we're busy in the fields every day. The newest member of our team has also joined us on the road this month--little Wesley Sugden, 8 week old son of Nathan and Megan. He had his first combine ride and is already looking forward to driving one someday! You can see more pictures of him and our harvesting adventures at Megan's website.

Finally made it home! These last few months have been very busy with stops in central Kansas, Colorado, Nebraska, and South Dakota for six weeks. South Dakota was filled with good wheat and some relaxing times between spring wheat and winter. After spring wheat was done in Gettysburg, we headed to central North Dakota and cut yellow peas for the first time. Stayed there for about a week, then loaded up and headed back towards Minnesota. As soon as we arrived we ran into green wheat and rain, but now we're back at it cutting wheat once again!
6.16.09Happy 50th, Bob, and Happy Birthday, Rick! We are now in Kiowa, Kansas. The weather has been scorching hot but it's doing a great job of drying the winter wheat! It's supposed to be dry and sunny for the next week so we hope to get a lot cut while we're here.
6.02.09
The 2009 harvest season has officially begun! Our first stop is Altus, Oklahoma, where the new 9770 combines were kicked into gear at 5:30 p.m. on June 1st. Four semi loads of wheat were cut before it started to rain on our parade! The wheat was dry and we're hoping to find more dry acres. Stay tuned for our next update.

This winter during the off-season we've been keeping busy with plenty of snowmobiling and ice fishing. Rick and Jodi took a trip to Arizona to escape from the cold and Nathan is heading to Florida to watch the Daytona 500 with some friends. We're looking forward to getting back into gear in a couple months for the next harvest season!

We've been back home now for about three weeks. The weather hasn't been the best here either, but we've managed to cut most of the crop out. Much of the spring wheat has been taken at above 14% moisture and 60-70 bushels per acre, which is great for Kittson County! It's some of the best wheat we've seen so far this harvest run. We still have a few late fields of wheat to cut and looking forward to a big bean harvest later this fall. We're crossing our fingers for NO FROST!

Another month has gone by and Sugden Harvesting is now in Gettysburg, South Dakota! After a few rain delays we are now cutting wheat in full swing, even using all five combines to really get the work done. The crops look good here as well and we hope to be back home in Hallock by next week sometime! Again, check out some of the pictures from our adventures here and here!

It's been awhile since our last update, but that's because we've been so busy...which is definitely a good thing! After a successful run near Healy, Kansas in June and the first week of July, we moved to Chappell, Nebraska near the Colorado border. So far the harvest has been great with 40 bushel Kansas, 50 bushel Nebraska wheat. We will be headed towards Gettysburg, South Dakota by the weekend. We also took a couple days off this past weekend since we were so close to Colorado and did a little whitewater rafting in Fort Collins. One of the many perks of harvesting across the USA is exploring the local areas whenever we get a break!
6.01.08
Sugden Harvesting is now in Altus, Oklahoma. We started cutting wheat yesterday. The crop is looking good so far with some reaching 60 bushels per acre. The temperatures have been in the 100s.
